Setting Yourself Up for Success
A little preparation before your first meeting goes a long way. You do not need to have everything figured out, but thinking through these areas will help us understand your needs and give you a more accurate quote.
Define Your Goals
Start by answering these questions:
- What problem are you trying to solve?
- Who will use this app or website?
- What do you want users to be able to do?
- How will you measure success?
You do not need perfect answers, but having thought about these helps focus the conversation.
Gather Examples
Find 2-3 apps or websites that you like. They do not need to be in your industry. Note what you like about each one:
- The overall look and feel
- Specific features that impress you
- How easy they are to use
- Anything you would do differently
This gives us a starting point for understanding your taste and expectations.
List Your Features
Write down everything you want your project to do. Do not worry about what is realistic or affordable yet. Once you have your list, try to categorise each item:
- Essential - The project cannot launch without this
- Important - Should be included if budget allows
- Nice to have - Would be great, but can wait
This prioritisation helps us build the right thing within your budget.
Know Your Budget
Have a realistic budget range in mind. You do not need to share the exact number, but knowing your range helps us propose solutions that fit. Be honest with yourself about what you can afford - it is better to build something smaller and excellent than stretch for something you cannot maintain.
Consider Your Timeline
Think about when you need this project completed:
- Is there a specific launch date you are working towards?
- Are there seasonal factors (busy periods, events)?
- Is this urgent, or do you have flexibility?
Realistic timelines lead to better results. Rushed projects often have compromises.
Prepare Your Content
Content often causes delays. Start gathering:
- Text - About your business, services, team, etc.
- Images - Photos, logos, product images (high quality)
- Documents - Any existing materials that could be useful
You do not need everything ready for the first meeting, but knowing what you have (and what you need to create) helps planning.
Think About the Future
Where do you see this project in 6-12 months? Understanding your longer-term vision helps us build in a way that supports future growth. You might want to:
- Add more features later
- Handle more users as you grow
- Integrate with other systems
- Expand to new markets
Questions to Ask Us
Come prepared with questions. Here are some good ones:
- What is your development process?
- How will we communicate during the project?
- What do you need from me, and when?
- What happens if I need changes after we start?
- What support do you provide after launch?
Do Not Overthink It
This list might seem long, but do not let it overwhelm you. The most important thing is to show up ready to have an honest conversation about what you need. We are here to guide you through the rest.
